Apple & Cinnamon Slice

The perfect home-made Apple & Cinnamon Slice. Perfect for any occasion, enjoy it cold as an afternoon snack, or warm it up and add a generous dollop of your favourite ice cream for dessert! Yummmmm

Ingredients

Apple Layer:

  • 3 Green apples, peeled and chopped into small chunks
  • 1 Tbsp Coconut Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/8 Cup Water

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C.
  2. Line a square cake tin (approximately 21cm) with baking paper and set it aside.
  3. Add the apples, coconut sugar, and cinnamon to a medium pan and simmer for 8-10 minutes or until the apples are very soft. Then, remove from the heat and allow to cool.
  4. While the apples are cooking, add the wet ingredients to a large mixing bowl and whisk together until well combined. Then, add the dry ingredients and fold through.
  5. Pour about half of the mixture into the prepared cake tin, then carefully add the apples over the top.
  6. Sprinkle with a thin layer of coconut sugar and cinnamon. Then, pour the remaining mixture over the top to cover the apples.
  7. Sprinkle over a little more coconut sugar and cinnamon and place into the oven to bake for around 35-40 minutes, or until golden and a skewer inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in the tin for about 5-10 minutes before removing and placing on a wire rack to cool completely, then slice.

Enjoy it cold as an afternoon snack, or warm it up and add a generous dollop of your favourite ice cream for dessert!
